El Comandante
El Comandante tells a fascinating tale inspired by the life of Hugo Chávez, a man of humble origin who, at only 44 years old and against all odds, became the most powerful and controversial Latin American leader of his time. During his rule he controlled the largest oil reserves on the planet in Venezuela and challenged the First World while sparking a lot of controversy across the whole continent.
This production moves away from documenting one of the most well-known political ascensions in history and, inspired by the real events, creates a powerful fictional story around the polarising figure that was Hugo Chavez. It stars well-known Colombian actor Andrés Parra, who has previously played another infamous Latin American legend, Pablo Escobar.
